Phosphogypsum
Converting phosphogypsum into usable gypsum
As demand for gypsum increases and FGD gypsum production declines, new sources of gypsum must be developed. For every one ton of phosphoric acid produced, over five tons of phosphogypsum (PG) are generated. Phosphogypsum is too radioactive to be used and is therefore stored in mountainous piles
Benefit from the selective leaching of NORM to enable a further use of the purified gypsum as construction material. A suitable method of selective leaching NORM was developed, verified, and optimized by UIT.
